Level Up in 2020

No matter what level of success that you have already achieved, there is always room for G̳R̳O̳W̳T̳H̳! Now that we are settled into 2020 and it's the last day of the longest January on record, it is time to go full speed ahead.


Join me in this new year of this new decade for a personal challenge. The challenge is to LEVEL UP in 2020! How do we LEVEL UP? G̳R̳O̳W̳T̳H̳! And in order to grow, we must push ourselves outside of our comfort zone and there is no better way than a personal challenge to create growth in all areas of life.


Here are my 5 Steps to Leveling UP in 2020 and how to implement each one! I'd love it if you joined me on this 𝔼ℙ𝕀ℂ personal growth challenge. Decide, Commit, Succeed.

These 5 steps to leveling up are pretty simple. The key is consistency.

How a Word of the Year can help you!

Every year I choose my word...this word inspires me, pushes me, reminds me of my plans for growth and development as a human, Christian, mom and wife.


WHY does a WOTY matter?

Your word is the most important word that you will focus on for 2020 and it can help you...


𝔼mpower and motivate yourself

ℙurposefully align with your goals

𝕀nspire and 𝕀mpact others

ℂreate ℂommunity


This word is your North Star and should guide you. It should align with your personal growth intentions (also known to most people as goals).



If you've never chosen a WOTY, don't fret...here are the steps that I take....

1. Brain Dump (journal it all out)

2. Choose a few words that spark deep thought/evoke deep feelings

3. Grab a thesaurus/dictionary (or your phone LOL) and get to work on the true meaning of the words you chose

4. Give yourself permission to change your mind

5. Sleep on it if you need to

6. Commit to your word

7. Decide what you need to do to execute your commitment to the word for the year

8. Plan out how you can align with your word in 2020


Once you have a WOTY you need to explore whether you have a 𝙛𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙚𝙩 or a 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙚𝙩. Check out my previous post about mindset.


Remember, if you believe you can’t, you’re right.

Finding your purpose!

Once you are able to find your life's purpose, a whole new world will open up for you. When you are living in alignment with who you were meant to be, you will be executing your purpose daily. Whether that is to take care of animals, wash cars, teach etc. you will know it is your purpose because you are called to do it and it makes you happy as a career.


Here are my top questions for discovering your purpose:

  • What is my life’s purpose?

  • What do I love to do, more than anything else?

  • What would I like to leave the world, as my legacy?

  • Who are the people I most admire?

  • Why do I admire these people?

  • How would I define their life’s purpose?

  • What qualities do these people possess that I’d also like to be known for?

  • What would I like to do, RIGHT NOW, which would bring me the most happiness or pleasure?

  • What special gift do I have that I could give to the world?

  • If I could be granted the power to change the world, what would I do?

  • What does my heart say I am to do with my life?

  • What qualities do I possess that I am really proud of?

  • What have I done in my life that I am really proud of?

  • If I had time available to contribute to a charity, or some cause, what would it be?

  • What do I most regret not doing, so far in my life?

  • What would I like to achieve in 10 years? 20 years?

  • How do I want to feel?

Once you have found your purpose, believing in yourself comes naturally because you know you are doing everything in alignment.




Daily habits will make or break your growth!

Without modifying our habits and patterns of behavior, we wont be able to go next level.


Basically, when nothing changes, nothing changes.

If you have the same habits that got you to stunted growth, you will be stagnant. You need to break those and create new habits to fuel new growth.


Having a laser focus daily helps habit execution, so that means a clear and sold set of habits that are a part of your growth strategy.


The book Atomic Habits (you can get it here) is all the rage right now, and for good reason. This book goes deep on WHY habits are important and HOW they play a role in our lives. You can check it out here.


As Tony Robbins says, "You’ve got to get out of your comfort zone (cycle of habits) to go next level and challenge yourself."

I use the 20X3 method daily as part of the 5am club (you can read more about that here) and it has been instrumental in my personal growth. This new set of habits helps me stay sharp and on my A game.


The 20X3 Method

20 minutes of mind work (reading, learning)

20 minutes of body work (walking, stretching)

20 minutes of soul work (meditating, praying)


You get the point. Do whatever suits you in the 20 minutes, but make sure that you are consistent.


Breakthroughs happen when we are uncomfortable.

Be AMBITIOUS

What does "be ambitious" even mean? By definition ambitious means "having or showing a strong desire to succeed". I would definitely consider myself an ambitious person. But it is not something that I have always felt. It took work. Adapting to a new way of thinking.


Easy ways to do that:


1️⃣ 𝐃𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬

2️⃣ 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

3️⃣ 𝐁𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥

4️⃣ 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭

6️⃣ 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧



Doing this may scare you. But living on the other side of fear is the only way live. Trust the process and the powers above and make a choice:


Fear

Everything

And

Run


OR


Face

Everything

And

Rise


I promise, the latter is where it is at.


Have a Measurable, Actionable, Personal Plan (MAPP™)

After I got my Life's Purpose Coaching Certification, I knew I needed to create something to give my clients to help them align their purpose with daily habits. By simply having a plan behind each intention or goal, you can take the necessary action to achieve said intention or goal. I found that it helped me to hold myself accountable to my personal growth intentions too.


MEASURABLE- intentions for growth have a progress evaluation plan

ACTIONABLE- daily steps to get achieve growth

PERSONAL- growth and intentions are specific to your life's vision

PLAN- intention for growth is in line with your purpose


I love the SMART Goal setting system. It breaks everything down before you even begin. And if you reverse engineer the steps to get to the goal, it makes it easier to reach.


Being able to break down what I need to do daily is the best way for me to actually do it. Time blocking is helpful too! When I teach a purpose workshop or work one on one with someone, we go into this a lot.



Other things you can do to take YO to the next level in 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟘:


  • Practice 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚 daily

  • Stop 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 yourself to others

  • Give back to your 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮

  • Find the lesson in your 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨

  • Surround yourself with 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡 people
